We've all seen the
advertisements in the newspaper or on television claiming they have the
answers to your prayers with "fast and easy credit repair".
To put it simply...Don't believe them. The only remedy for ailing credit
is time, effort, good advice and a sound strategy. |

There are all kinds of
scams out there and we have all seen or heard about them. Credit
scams are no different aside from involving your credit rating.
Companies or individuals pose as credit experts who can "fix your credit
in no time at all". What they don't tell you is that they can't actually
follow through with it.
After you give up your hard earned dollars (often hundreds, even
thousands) you find out that nothing has changed. Like many scams
you will likely be unable to locate them afterwards as well. So if
you are thinking about using one of these types of services...seriously
reconsider.
The fact of the matter is that nobody can remove accurate information
that has been reported in a timely fashion. As long as the
information is factual and has been reported within the appropriate
timeframe, it cannot be removed. |

There are things you
can do to keep on top of your credit report. The first and most
important step is to get a copy of your credit file for yourself.
Knowing what and how items are reporting on your credit file is crucial.
The Consumer Reporting Act entitles you to the right to know what is
being reported about you and to whom it is reported. You can find out
how to get a copy of your file here.
If you find that there is an error or that there is incomplete
information on your credit file the agency must either prove their
claim, correct the mistake/omission or delete the item from your credit
file altogether.
Good credit or bad credit, you should periodically check your credit
